Vice President Technology
Senator: January 2017-May 2020; VP Technology: August 2017-May 2018
My first executive council position in Drury's Student Government Association dealt with the technology on campus. I was the youngest person on council and I was proud of myself for getting to where I was. Though I was the lowest ranking of the VPs, I still had my spot at the back table and I was able to work and interact with those on Drury's campus and in administration like I never would have been able to otherwise. I learned a lot about organized leadership and I believe that at the heart of SGA is an organization trying to do its best for the campus that has cared fr them.

Vice President Student Affairs/Presiding Officer
Vice President Student Affairs/Presiding Officer: May 2018-September 2018
Between May of 2018 and August of 2018 there were many major changes to SGA. We had new academic advisors and a new Executive Council. I was initially elated to learn that I had won the vote for VP of Student Affairs and I was ready to do what I could for the Student body that had elected me. I wanted to maintain the same level of student-oriented assistance that SGA had taught me in the beginning. We had lost many senior members of SGA to graduation, and I wanted to take what they taught me and give it forward. What SGA taught me when I was a young senator was that we were an association that worked for the students so that they could have the fulfilling Drury experience they deserved. Going into August of 2018, I saw that the SGA I knew had changed, and not in a way I agreed with. Due to these changes and other changes in policy that I did not believe benefited the students, I stepped down from my position, as did many other council members who had joined around the same time I did. My reasons were my ow and I do not want to "drag" SGA and say that they aren't doing a good job. I have enjoyed seeing their increased presence on campus, however I don't believe the leadership was as focused on the students as they were getting along with administration and promoting the administrations agenda. I joined SGA because I saw senators stand up for students and voice the concerns of students, not because it touted the same lines as I heard from the administration.
I will remember my time in SGA fondly and I can only hope that they choose to focus on students again in the future.
