ENGL 201: British Literature I A For my Junior year, I was making sure that I got all of my CORE requirements done and passed so that I could set myself up for a Senior year that would shoot me straight into law school. That being said, I did not have the opportunity to take an Honors class in the fall semester of my Junior year, but I was able to contract out my British Literature I class to make up for the lost time.
My goal here was to write an in-depth paper that looked at a connection between a couple of works. I chose to look at John Milton's epic poem Paradise Lost, and compare the imagery of Sin to the description and inclusion of witches in in the Salem Witch Trials as described in Stacy Schiff's The Witches: Salem 1692. With the help and support of Dr. Katie Gilbert, I was able to complete the paper in time to present it at my first ever conference. I presented this paper at the Undergraduate Literature Conference held at Missouri State University. This conference was a blast and I was so happy to see Dr. Gilbert there when I stood to present. I also presented this paper at the Drury Honors Symposium on April 30th. A copy of the paper can be read below. |
